The radiation oncologist told me the burns from the tail end of the treatments would get worse for a while, but once they started healing, it would go very fast. He wasn't kidding. I can see differences in the course of a day. My neck only has a small little spot that isn't healed over and the rest is just a little red now. The spots on surgical scars that hadn't had time to thicken up before they got scorched are taking longer, but are still improving rather quickly. I'm just about off the prescription pain meds. (Finally. Three weeks is too long. I had a few emotionally dark days during the worst of the burns, and I think the pain meds made it worse. Not that I can remember details that clearly.) I'm definitely well over the hump as far as the radiation phase goes, and I'm feeling much better all the way around.
