Went in yesterday to have my thyroid biopsy done. That's the last puzzle piece to see how they want to proceed. The surgeon's lovely physician's assistant called today to let me know the biopsy results were inconclusive, but we finally get to proceed to the treatment stage anyway. I'll likely go into surgery within a couple weeks. They'll remove the skin from my scalp where the melanoma is, as well as the lump behind my ear, and to make absolutely sure, the part of the thyroid that has the undetermined nodule is going too. The PA said the flap they'll remove from my scalp will be replaced with a skin graft, most likely from my thigh. I'll have a big bald spot on my head from then on, which I can live with. Emphasis on live. And after that comes radiation treatments. I'm very glad to be getting the show on the road.
