Last week I went in for a PET scan to get an updated look at what's happening with the cancer. Today I had an appointment with my oncologist to discuss the results. Some spots that lit up in September are gone now, and there are a few new small spots lighting up. With all the inflammatory side effects from the two immunotherapy treatments, those new spots could well be more of the same. So for now, we wait. There's nothing there now that needs to be treated, so no more treatments for three months. Then I'll get another scan to see what's going on then. With how aggressive melanoma is, this is a good sign that things went in the right direction while I was dealing with a metric fuckload of very serious side effects and none of it was for nothing. In the meantime, the immunotherapy treatment's little antibodies are still in my bloodstream doing their thing for a while. I get to stop treatments, finish healing up from the first two, and get back to a somewhat normal life again. Hopefully in three months, there's nothing to see and I can be done with the cancer end of things and focus on restarting the kidney disease and transplant process again.
