"This is a bit bizarre" is an interesting frst sentence to read in a doctor's write-up of my situation.
Later, from a comment:
To clarify, this is from a very good doctor who I really like. The situation is bizarre. The pneumonitis was originally caused by an autoimmune response triggered by the immunotherapy drug I've been getting for my cancer, which itself is an incredibly rare side effect. Then in the middle of that, I caught a virus that caused pneumonia on top of the existing pneumonitis. And now, just as I was starting to get better, and tapering off the big doses of steroids I've been on to heal my lungs, because by all indications, it was time to, then my lungs revert and start bleeding again. It's throwing off a very good doctor who is this hospital's top pulmonologist. It really is bizarre. And this is after I got called a few days before I had to come back to the hospital by one of the resident doctors involved in my previous hospitalizations asking my permission to write a paper about the entire situation because it's so rare. This is not the kind of unicorn I want to be. Lol.
